News Briefs- Left Out Pastors Set To Protest That They Have Rights Too Word has come to the Presbyterian Lampoon, via credible sources from the Presbyterian News Service, that the Left-handed Straight Male Pastors Caucus within the PCUSA is finalizing plans for a major protest at the up-coming General Assembly in Richmond, Virginia. In an exclusive telephone interview, the Rev. Clayton McClure Winsborough IV explained that the LHSM Caucus has 650 left-handed straight male pastors from across our denomination signed up to participate in a GA protest sometime during the week of June 26-31. He stated , “We see this protest as a matter of civil disobedience and good Christian conscience. Frankly, we are tired of all the attention that the right side of the church has been getting and especially the heavy-handed criticism of those of us on the left. We feel like left-handed people have been discriminated long enough with the PCUSA. We resent having to confirm to the right side of the church.” When asked what form the planned protest will take, Rev. McClure-Winsborough IV said the Caucus was considering many options, including streaking down the left-center aisle of the Richmond Convention Center where the General Assembly meeting is to be held. However, to preserve the shock effect of the protest, he would not divulge the actual form the Protest would take, saying only that it would is intended to embarrass the PCUSA in a significant way. At this point, the Caucus simply wants to draw attention to the discrimination that left-handed straight male pastors are feeling within the PCUSA. The Caucus will conduct the protest at the General Assembly under the slogan “No Left Oriented Pastors Left Behind”. Those who would like to participate in the No Lefts Left Behind Protest are invited to contact Lefty’s Bar and Grill in Richmond, VA at 1-800-LEFTPAW.
