The Network's Purpose:
Simply put, PPCN is composed of a group of
ministry professionals and volunteers throughout the Presbyterian Church
(U.S.A.) who are concerned for or engaged in providing pastoral
care to ministers. PPCN provides support to the members by
offering them opportunities for continuing education,
fellowship, and professional accountability.
To carry out this purpose, the network sets
goals and engages in activities that:
 | advocate for pastoral care for ministers
within the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.)
|
 | encourage research and study of the area of
pastoral care
|
 | provide information and resources for its
membership
|
 | establishing networks for mutual support
for its members
|
 | encourage "best practices" among those
responsible for the care and support of church professionals
|
 | advocate for clergy self-care within our
denomination as a preventative strategy for addressing the
stresses and demands that clergy face in ministry
|
 | encourage Presbyteries to develop and share
resources related to comprehensive "First Call"
Pastor Support Programs conducted by both CPMs, COMs and
clergy beginning their Vocation in Ministry as well as
Seasoned Clergy Mentors
|
 | model appropriate accountability
relationships among members
|
 | holds an annual denomination-wide
conference, as well as other educational events. |
